Let's just hire the entire SHSU coaching staff intact. Why not take the chance that they can transfer what they do there to us here? What, really, have we got to lose?
Hell, I'd consider one of the top 6A high school coaching staffs. Maybe they could bring some of their athletes, which honestly is better than most of our talent.

Kugler ball is a complete failure. The premise that he can recruit huge but underrecruited guys and teach them how to impose their will on the line is a complete failure. Our O line keeps having their keister handed to them. We play most of the game with a QB that's clearly still not right. This is exactly Price ball only with the run.

Should Kugler be canned? This is his 4th season and his team should be ready to compete well in a pretty weak C-USA.
The only bad thing about getting yet another new staff is that everything starts over. A new HC will have his own 4 - 5 year plan and he will have to recruit his type of players, yada, yada, yada.

Snooping around, I noticed that Stone is playing for Asst. Coach Greg Foster
Further snooping shows Stone had a horrible night tonight. The Bucks played the Grizzlies and Culpepper DNP (Coach's Decision) but HUNTER had a night. Seven rebounds and 17 points in 26+ minutes.

This pick up is huge, a former Elite 11 QB, was watching game film on this kid and he has the potential with the offensive line we have to put up big numbers. Throw in Aaron Jones, and we could be putting up big numbers on game day, hopefully our defense holds their own.
How long till football season?

The 2016 basketball recruiting class that is.
I have confirmations from tweets and various sources that Barrett, Moore, Barnes, & Cameron are on campus and should be registering for the Summer 1 session. I didn't get anything about K. Jones, but he only lives a few hours away and I am not worried about that kid at all.
Anyway, all 5 kids will be Freshmen and all with 4 years of eligibility. We all obviously have our expectations on Jones, but the two other kids I have my eye on are Moore and Cameron. Those two will be our wing/slasher players we need desperately that Lee Moore left and also that JWash & Flaggert fell short.
Artis (1), Omega(2), Flaggert(3), Winn(4), & Willms(5) will be the starters with Touchet, Moore, Cameron, & Jones being the immediate back ups. I think Thomas should gain that confidence come middle of the season while Barrett, Barnes, & Silva will be in the wings learning and possibly red shirting. I'm betting Venegas sees time between Willms, Thomas, Winn & Jones.

Miners have an outstanding associate head coach in Bob Cantu who has a great recruiting talent and reach for the squad. We chatted up with him on the podcast on www.collegehoopswatch.com.

rnet Message Boards and Blogs
I think this broader topic is worth exploring. There are so many aspects to consider. For instance, there is the local media's symbiotic relationship with the college athletic department. The college sees the media as free publicity to promote and sell the college's product and make fans happy, promote the university, etc. The media represents the fans and their desire to be informed, entertained, support the university. These are two different perspectives that are in harmony at times, and at odds at other times. Some fans would be happy with the Athletic Department's Media Relations issued statements for their coverage, while others want the dirt.
Then there is the topic of radio call in and internet message boards, which allow fans to throw in their two cents. There is a whole new and different dynamic involved with these. There are the Coach's Shows that take fan phone calls, often from a local bar, and broadcast them. Then there are the call in shows like Sports Talk, hosted by a local media person. Finally, there are these newfangled things on the innerweb called blogs and message boards, often, but not always hosted by local persons with very varied backgrounds, motivations, impact, and so on. Universities have had to learn how to deal with this new media. How do they handle the dipstick fan with too much time on his hands and a website when his damned website is getting 250,000 hits a month on the internet thing. What's a hit, anyway? This internet thing was changing things. Damnit!
There's this journalistic ethics and integrity stuff. Does the radio host or message board host have any? Are they expected to, or are they to simply allow the fans voices to be heard? Is it the same for radio and boards? Where does the line cross from host stimulating discussion to setting agendas, or moderation become censorship. This one is "uge". Where is the line that separates reporting news and opinions, and opinions about news. What about the opinion media person who also serves in a news role? Can they? Would the fan's answer be different from the coaches and player's? I can tell you from my own experience that I was faced with many decisions such as these-AND I am not looking to make a profit or survive financially, so those aren't considerations most must face. As the publisher of Kyyote's Den I have come to understand that I have responsibilities when I post that others don't have. I freely admit that I stumbled into the position, knew nothing about what I was doing or what the animal is that I would eventually be riding. Oh, another thing I have learned is that when you are in the saddle, others watch, judge the ride, your style, the animals style, and everything else. There will be cheers, and jeers. Oh, and there will always be an East German judge that will give you a 7 when all of the other judges scores were nines and tens. But like I heard a great con-artist say once, "They only try to tackle you if your the one with the football."
So, what are your thoughts on the subjects?
